Politicians don't know what the problem is

The State has a "legal" monopoly on force which it uses to maintain dominance which is unethical

They'll pay just enough to price you out and then make you dance for access - that's what state capitalism is all about.

As people become more enlightened they will be more inclined to let others get on with their lives unperturbed. Political parties of all types will need to have a more hands-off approach to appeal to voters. Draconian parties, be they Socially or Economically illiberal (to restrict individual preferences) will be less popular as people realise the justifications for a restrictive approach are invalid or insufficient.

Civilisation is the gradual process of realisation that coercion is not ethical, in that it does not lead to "the good life".
